The Parish Council

Milcombe Parish Council has 7 elected councillors and a clerk, and it meets 7 times per year (3rd Monday in January and May; 1st Monday in March, July, September and November; 4th Monday in April). There is also an Annual Parish Meeting held in May.

The Council is responsible for such areas as maintenance of the Play Area, the mowing of the grass verges within the village, etc. It also provides financial support for maintenance of the churchyard and clock and the village newsletter, The Dove.

In addition, the Council carries out occasional projects; at present it is engaged in a significant upgrade of the Play Area, which will include a Teen Shelter and a "ball game" area. This project is likely to cost in excess of £30,000 and external funding is being sought from a number of sources.

The precept for 2007/8 is £8,800.

At the beginning of 2006, the Council championed the setting up of a Steering Group to develop a Parish Action Plan for Milcombe. Funding was obtained and various activities, as part of the engagement of the residents, were arranged during 2006. A questionnaire was prepared and copies delivered in spring 2007. Following collection of the completed questionnaires, a 75% response rate being achieved, analysis of the results is now taking place and the Plan will be published in the autumn.
