The Village Hall
Village Hall
The building dates from the 1660s when it was three cottages. In the 1880s it was converted into a village school, with teachers' accomodation upstairs. The school closed down in1906 and the buiding fell into disrepair. In the 1950s a committee was formed and the building became the village hall with a flat roof extension built on the site of the of the small playground and outside toilets. Futher modernisation in 2005 increased the size of the kitchen and added oil fired central heating, and toilet facilities for disabled visitors, designed by Tony Stickings, the then Chairman of the Village Hall Committee. The hall was redecorated, including new curtains, in 2007.
The hall is available for hire during the daytime and in the evenings, with a capacity of 50 people with facilities for groups or parties. The standard hire charge is £6 per hour and parties £7.00 per hour with returnable deposit. For more info, contact Joan Stickings on 01295 720666.
